Punching & Ironworkers

Turret punches & ironworkers — with the tooling that makes them useful.

Punching machines earn their keep on repeat work — holes, notches, louvres and forms in volume, without the consumable cost or heat of a cutting beam. An ironworker does punching, shearing and section work in one frame; a turret punch trades that versatility for speed and programmable positioning across a full sheet.

With these machines the tooling matters as much as the machine. A turret with no punches and dies is a frame, so the stock on this page is listed with what comes with it. A1 also repairs and programs the controls on punching machinery, which is the part most sellers cannot help with once the sale is done.

Common questions

What should I check on a used turret punch?

The tooling that comes with it, the condition of the turret stations, and whether the control still programs and holds position. Ask to see it running a real part rather than a jogged axis — and ask what spares come with it.

Is an ironworker enough, or do I need a turret punch?

For fabrication in ones and twos — brackets, cleats, section work — an ironworker usually does the job for a fraction of the cost and floor space. Once you are punching patterns in sheet repeatedly, a turret punch pays for itself in setup time.
